Unreal Engine 4 Speech Recognition Avatar
This project was born out of a desire to provide new options in realistic human-avatar interactions in virtual reality environments. It enables verbal interaction between user and avatar. Eventually it will be ready for use in experiments that will examine the effect of communication with a realistic, highly customizable avatar. I created this avatar by implementing a modified version of the Sphinx voice recognition plugin. He can be interacted with using swappable voice commands, each causing an easily modifiable response, whether it be custom animations or recorded voice samples. I also modeled and animated this human male character using Mixamo. This project was created for the course “Virtual Reality Development” at IDC Herzliya.
